Metal Bucket Makeover...I LOVE JUTE!!!

Happy Easter,

If you can believe it I actually had a few hours to myself today to do a little project.  This is what I came up with...Hope you like it....

My first attempt at fabric flowers, these were fun to make.  They seem to be the latest craze.  I just "winged" it make them.  I used my hot glue gun to keep each section together.   I'm so in love with this fabric.
I added a left over button from my Jewelry Hook Board (previous project) and hot glued it on.

Then I added the second flower (but chose not to add a button on this one).
I also put jute on the handle and then added a ribbon tie with some left over fabric from the flower.
Voila....now where to display it....I'm sure I'll find somewhere or someone...LOL

Missing in Action....Rushed to Hospital

Well it's been a rough couple of weeks.  2 Saturdays ago, I had just stepped out of the shower and I had this sharp pain in the center of my chest that dropped me to my knees, it was the WORST pain I have ever experienced in my life, it shot around my back and up over my right shoulder.  I was crying (SCREAMING) in pain, curled up in a ball on the floor praying that God would make it stop.

Brett was at work, the kids were napping and I thought I was dying.  I called my neighbor and I could barely talk through the pain, she suggested I call the Nurse's Hotline on the back of my insurance card, so I did, she said I needed to call 911.  So I called my neighbor back and she came over (just in time for the boys waking up), she walked in the door and was on the phone with 911.

The fire department came along with an ambulance, they came in, hooked me up to an EKG machine to see if it was my heart, at this point the pain had slowed.  They said it would be best to take me to the hospital - so off I went.
Once there they hooked me up to all these machines, gave me a medicine "cocktail" and there I waited for the Dr.  When he came in he started pressing around below my rib cage, when he got to the right side I shot off the table he says "that would be your gallbladder", and ordered an ultrasound.

Results...I had "Sludge" in my gallbladder...basically a bunch of sand that caused the exit for my bile to get blocked.  Now anyone who has had this in their life...Knows that when I say it was the WORST pain EVER, they know that I'm not exagerating.  He said I was not in a life threatening state and so he sent me home after 5 1/2 hours, and wanted me to follow up with my Doctor - which I did and he says I can leave it in for now (and I could have another attack) or take it out.  So far I've opted to keep it in and try and cleanse it.  BUT...if I were to have another attack that baby is coming out!!!!

Entry Table

So I got these great black tables off of Craigslist...Entry, coffee, end and side table. I just relocated the entry table to...wouldn't you know it...the entry...LOL (I had it in our family room and it just wasn't working for me.

Lamp(s) I found at Marshall's and FELL IN LOVE...had to have them.  The egg nest and eggs were from another  project I did awhile back.  Books were from Goodwill, the tall metal "thingy" I got at another thrift store and added the twine and moss eggs (also another past project), the bunny was another thrift find along with the Pottery Barn vase filled with eggs (also another past project)

In this table - I store my candles & holders for different seasons. On the lower shelf is a sign that reads "Do One Thing A Day That Makes You Happy" - a quote to live by which I why I started to blog my hobbies and addictions...LOL...the @ and W I found at Michaels', and the cream colored wire basket I found for $4.00 at DI...it is so beautiful - definitely needed a good washing, but it was perfect. Now what to put in it....

This was fun, I used some of my left over eggs (from past project) and took stickers and spelt out Easter (taken from Pottery Barn eggs) and added two moss rocks.  Then placed on a green saucer.  The Silver tray I found at DI for $1.00 I polished it up a bit and placed it under plate.

I'm in love with TWINE!!!!

So I asked Hubby to buy me a W so I could do a little craft project.  This is what he came home with.  It was a little small for what I wanted to do with it so I came up with this.
Recipe:  Twine, Letter, Hot Glue Gun.

Start wrapping the twine around the letter (be sure it's tight and snugged up side by side)

Continue till the letter is completely covered.  Hot gluing in between each row (watch the fingers - I got burnt a few times)

Take cut small pieces of twine that fit your area on top (I did not do the bottom so the letter could stand on it's own) and glue down, I took my scissors and pressed down to finish off the edges with hot glue.
Here it is on my entry table (stay tuned for my living room reveal)
Ok onto some paper mache eggs....before
 after

Decoration....I also covered one in left over moss from another project I'll reveal tomorrow.
Happy Day - Heather

My first attempt at Antiquing Glaze....

So I had this ugly "thing" that I got at goodwill not even sure exactly what it was supposed to be, all I knew is it had potential.

I first started with priming it and then painted it with white gloss spray paint.  But it still didn't do it for me.

So when I read on

about her Glazing 101, I thought how fun (I should try this).
Ok so this stuff is really cool....Valspar Antiquing Glaze - Asphaltum 98278. It was about $9.00 for the bottle at Lowe's, but as I've read on The Speckled Dog Tutorial, a little goes a LONG way. I didn't even put a dent into my bottle, just used what was inside the cap...

After I was done - 3 coats of Glaze.  I was still missing something...but didn't know what.
So then I remembered the two little bunnies I got for $1.00 at Goodwill.  So I antiqued them too....He's got one coat, waiting for the 2nd.
Here is the final with it all put together...

I know you just love my twine eggs and moss eggs, stay tuned for how I made those....so much fun!

There you go...so happy!  Happy Day...Heather

I'm joining up with....
