Friday, June 6th was the hardest day of my life, I had to make the decision to send my beloved best friend Shawnee to heaven who I have had for the past 18 years. Shawnee has been going down hill for the last few months and we made the decision to send her to her final resting place this past Friday. We arrived at Northwest Animal Hospital in Everett at 5:20 pm, we were led into the room and were able to sit with Shawnee as they went over the procedure, they then took her into the back room and put an IV into her left leg, they brought her back out in a pink blanket and layed her in Brett's arms, she was not comfortable and wanted to be on the floor, so we layed her on the floor and we were petting her when the vet started the injection, it was just a matter of seconds and my precious baby was at peace and no longer in pain, she went quietly.
After our final goodbyes, we walked out of the hospital the the sky opened up and the sun shown down right on us (while gray clouds surrounded everything else) we knew then that she had made it to heaven to play with her friends, Justie, Cassie, Cricket and her best friend Colby who we lost 5 years ago.
We are having her privately cremated.
