Rain Gutter Book Shelves....

So I saw this idea on the web to make book shelves out of "Rain Gutters", and so I thought I'd try it.  What a great idea this is.  My wonderful friend Kim lent me her husband Jones for a few hours (Mine was working)to come over and help me put them up.  He did a great job and I'm so excited by the outcome.

The gutters come in 10 ft lengths we found ours at Lowe's, he then cut them in 1/2 - so we had four. (But I only had room for 3) we might put the 4th one up later somewhere else.  He used gutter end caps from Lowe's to finish them off, you will need two per shelf.  He also lightly sanded the edges so that little fingers would get an accidental cut from them not be "finished".   Jones drilled four holes in the gutter and attached them to the walls by 4  Drywall Anchors found at Lowe's. If you can attached to the studs - even better.

I had no idea my son had this many books (favorite thing in our household)...The Love of Reading (all but Daddy).

These are perfect height for him, they really do hold a lot of books (he probably has over a 100 on these shelves)  Easton has pulled on the top shelf numerous times and it has held steadfast and is pretty nice looking if I might add.

8 caps @ $2.77 = $22.16
2 Gutters @ $6.19 = $12.38
Drywall Anchors @ $8.32

Total cost = $32.86 for 4 shelves that I DIDN'T have to paint!  But you could.....

Guest Feature....Baby Girl Nursery

So I've been down and out for almost 2 weeks recovering from Gallbladder Removal Surgery.  So needless to say I haven't done any projects and of course I'm having withdrawals.  So I've been out in blog land drooling....I came across my Church Sister Brenda's new baby girls nursery and I told her I HAD TO FEATURE it on my blog today....after delivering her a meal today I got the privilege of seeing it first hand and let me just say BEAUTIFUL...I also found out that Mrs. Brenda is this amazing artist!!!  Please visit her website at Brenda's Art....

So....drum roll please.....

Brenda painted the tree on the wall and then placed these cute "Umbra Wall Flowers" found here...Bed Bath and Beyond

Brenda and her mother also handmade the bedding...can you say cute....
and that OWL I might just have to steal, he's just way to cute....

Creative use of space...I love the purple elephant in the cube shelves.

How cute is the purple lamp...I believe her shelving cupboard is IKEA...but not positive...Super Duper Cute and functional.
I hope you enjoyed taking a peek into Brenda's Nursery, thank you for letting me share it with you...

I've got some great projects coming your way, once I start feeling 100%.  Thank you for your patience.

Reorganizing Garage and Van

I started this post about a month ago and realized I never posted it. So we had a beautiful day to work on our garage - now I'm down and out from surgery and i am thankful I have something to post for you....so here you go.

So I definitely have SPRING FEVER I've been going through my house room by room...so stay tuned.  Our garage and my van were no exceptions

5 years ago be turned 1/2 our our garage into my scrapbook space http://followthewebbs.blogspot.com/search/label/Scrapbook%20Room

So we were only left with 1/2 a garage (so you can't really call it a garage anymore since you can't park a car in it) my husband jokes that we can barely parallel our bikes in it. So we are very limited on space. I have no clue how we had this much stuff in there. Sorry I didn't take a before photo of our garage.

Happy Day - Heather
and of course I didn't take a final photo as my camera disk memory ran out (how is that even remotely possible..LOL) - I'll try to do that soon for you.

Now it's time to clean out my van with all my thrift store finds...I'm so excited for what I have in store for these projects (as soon as we get some more sunshine - which of course isn't today).
Got to love Washington weather....NOT!

Look at the wonderful stuff I found...so many projects, now just add some warmer weather and let the projects flow....

Easton's 3rd Birthday Party

I cannot believe my little man is THREE!!! Where does the time go?

I had a dream a few months back about an owl...the next day Easton's Grandma gave him a stuffed owl - total coincidence but needless to say the "Owl Theme" began...

I started googling "Owl" stuff and boy was I surprised how much is out there and how popular they are becoming (or maybe always have been, but now I'm IN LOVE with them)

My first find was the very talented...Joylyn mcChesnie of Birchangel Pinatas on Etsy.com  http://www.etsy.com/people/Birchangel  She took the scrapbook paper I had of the owls and designed my owl to look like one of them.  Including a birthday hat.  Super Duper Cute!

Happy Birthday EASTON!!!  We love you!!!

Missing in action - part two

Happy Wednesday everyone. Sorry I haven't posted anything in a couple of weeks. So much going on. Our little guy turned three on Monday so we celebrated his birthday on sunday stay tuned for all that fun.

Yesterday 5/17 - I went in to have my gall bladder removed. After my ER visit a month ago I was having some mild attacks and so I went to talk with a surgeon last week and he agreed 85% that my gallbladder should come out. So I got to the hospital at 9:30 am. We sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes before the took me to pre-op. Once at pre-op they got me all gowned up and then the waiting began. Surgery was scheduled for 11:45. At noon they still had not come and got me. So Brett inquired and they were running behind. They finally came and took me the pre-surgery room around 12:30. Hooked me up to an IV, doctor came in and talked to me and then the drug doctor (don't try to have me spell it...lol). Finally it was time almost 2 hours past my scheduled time. Nothing like keeping your nerves on edge.

They rolled me down this long hallway that had surgery room after surgery room (it was NOTHING like Grey's Anatomy). They had me move over onto the surgical table, they started the drugs and that's all I remember.

I woke up in the recovery room around 5:30pm. Dr. told Brett it's a good thing he took it out as it was inflamed & infected and he did find some stones which they hadn't seen in the ultrasound a month ago, they are sending it all to labs. Since I do not do well waking up from surgery, they decided to keep me over night to keep an eye on me as I was in alot of pain, had extremely low blood pressure and was quite pale.

They released me today around 1pm 5/18. It's good to be home. Hopefully now I can get some sleep. I'm on my way to recovery.

I'm hoping to return to blog land later this week. Thanks for your patience.

Happy Day - Heather

Shelf Makeover....

I found this "The Land of Nod" shelf at DI for $3.00 can you say SCORE!!!!

So I Love "Magic Erasers"....I used these to clean the gunk off the shelf.

When I bought the shelf it was missing one of the pegs.  So I removed the other two, and filled the holes with "Dry-Dex", the great thing about this stuff is it goes on Pink and turns White when dry.

My favorite tools EVER are "Tomboy Tools", and they are even better because they are PINK and my husband won't touch them!!!  I have my own tools and he seems to always steal them - Not anymore!!!

I picked up these great mason jars with wire hangers at ROSS for $6.99 - SCORE!!!  and I knew exactly what to do with them....

Since I have yet to purchase one of those wonderful silhouette machines (I keep hoping I will win one or get one donated..hint hint)  So I used my Cricket to make my numbers on black vinyl.

I found these hook at Lowe's for about $6.00 each...but they were the right look and size for this project.
Voila', finished...so it cost me $22.00 to re do this shelf.  I'm guessing since it was from The Land of Nod it was originally around $50.00 ( I just looked it up and YEP I was $1.00 off....they are selling it for $49.00 new)...I know I've said this twice now....but SCORE!!!  I love it...hope you do too...
Happy Day - Heather
